Our People

The Service Department maintains all models of English car from a prewar Bentley to this year's Land Rover Discoveries and Jaguars. For customers who are in a hurry we can perform a simple service while you browse and for older models with more extensive service needs we can usually repair or replace even the most difficult to obtain items in just a few days. We can perform factory scheduled maintenance for Jaguars and Land Rovers still under warranty and have extended the factory specified check list on older models to include items that experience has shown to be needed - at least in our climate. Our very popular 'Pre-Buy' inspection report has been a valuable service to many who were about to purchase a used car and needed to better understand its condition. We design and build special equipment and tools to maintain these cars after the manufacturers abandon support and to provide an alternative to dealer only service.
We offer several degrees of vehicle detailing to keep your car looking great, from a wash and vacuum to a full detail including treatment of leather and thorough steam cleaning of the engine bay and under carriage.

The Special Vehicle function under Simon's guidance has designed and carried out unique conversions to a number of cars including developing a full inner and outer (Defender style) roll cage for Land Rovers, an engine conversion to produce a Rover V8 MGB GT, an E type 2+2 transformed into a roadster, a cross flow head MGB, a 40 inch stretch added to a Land Rover to make it a 6 wheel. And performance modifications to a V12 XJS.

The Repair Department has developed procedures for dealing with accident damage and rust damage in older cars and we often manage, for our customers, the entire process of accident repair from collection of the car and preparation of an estimate, to painting and final detailing. We take great pride in performing repairs that maintain the correctness of the vehicle through the use of oem parts and replicating factory welds and seams.

The Fabrication function produces a variety of special equipment and components that are no longer available including telescopic shock absorber conversion kits that bolt in place, custom roll cages, Sheet metal replacement parts, floor pan replacements and much more.

The Sales Department is regularly comissioned to find, inspect, and prepare cars for customers. While we have always been involved in finding MGBs, TR6s and Healey 3000s, for the past 3 years we have purchased for customers a number of exceptional, 3 to 7 year old Jaguars and Land Rovers. We are committed to helping our customers find cars that they will enjoy and keep.

In our lobby you will find dozens of ads pinned up on our "For Sale and Wanted" board. It is a constantly changing summary of many of the English cars and accessories being bought and sold in our area. It includes cars being advertised by our customers, car ads clipped from local club newsletters and cars wanted in this very active marketplace which includes Raleigh, Durham, Cary and Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

The Parts and Accessories Department shelves are full with genuine OEM parts or parts from original manufacturers including: Girling, Jaguar, Lockheed, Bosch, Lucas, Land Rover, Quinton Hazell, Boge, and UniPart.

We can supply original parts and accessories for everything from new Range Rovers and Jaguars to 1939 Vauxhalls and our terrific suppliers can get us most things in 1 to 3 days. Call us before 2:00pm on Wednesday with an order and we can often have it for you on Friday. If you are in a hurry, overnight shipment is easy and quite affordable on smaller items. For mail order customers, fast moving items can usually be shipped from stock but most of our customers appreciate our special expertise in tracking down NOS or oem parts over instant availability. and watch out for our 'Blowout Specials' on things we just bought too many of.

The Restoration Department undertakes full and partial restorations of Jaguars, Austin Healeys, Triumphs, Land Rovers, Rolls Royces and MGs. Before any work is started, we prepare a detailed PERT (schedule and cost) chart showing how we will perform and budget the work and then involve the customer in making decisions that will affect cost and authenticity. We appreciate it when a customer stays involved in progress and provides regular input.

To this end, all major restoration customers have access to a webpage detailing the restoration of their car as work proceeds.
At the completion of work the car is delivered with a DVD containing stills and video footage detailling their restoration.

Sometimes the line between major repair and restoration becomes blurred and we are well equipped to perform jobs such as floor pan and sill replacement in MGBs, convertible top installations and Jaguar rear sub assembly overhauls.

It is a goal of ours to become car constructors after all we are pretty good at putting together restored cars. Putting together a new car should be simple, right? While the subject car is always being discussed, my vote is the Suffolk SS100 replica, a car that I cannot get out of my mind.

The 'Fun' Department makes sure that, whether you enjoy 'treading lightly' off road in your Land Rover, showing your Jaguar at Concours events or taking to the back roads on a club tour along the Blue Ridge Parkway in your MG (photo left), you are kept informed about rallies, tech sessions, and car shows. You will always find an up-to-date calendar of British car events in our showroom and you are always welcome to call or write if you are looking for something specific.

We always enjoy seeing visitors interested in English cars and encourage you to come and visit us.

Racing

We have been interested in racing for many years and during 2002 we became involved in a grassroots level attempt to go vintage racing. Times and people changed and a unique opportunity arose that led to the creation of a partnership between the B-Stingers and Flying Circus English Cars in which we share duties and campaign a rebuilt 1972 MGB race car in SVRA and other select events.
